Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our approach, process, and what to expect.

What's Therapy Like at The Dr. Gore Group?
Therapy here is active, collaborative, and results-focused. We go beyond traditional talk therapy to create meaningful, lasting change. Our clinicians offer direct, honest guidance, balancing empathy with challenge, to help you confront patterns and move forward. We take a systemic approach, considering the broader context of your relationships, environment, and inner life. This is a working space, not a waiting room. We expect your full engagement, and we'll match it every step of the way.
How Do I Know Which Therapist Is Right for Me?
We begin with a brief consultation to understand your goals and preferences. From there, we'll recommend the therapist whose style and expertise best align with your needs. Each clinician brings unique strengths, but all share our commitment to systemic thinking and honest, direct communication. If the first match isn't the right fit, we'll work with you to find one that is.
What's Your Approach to Couples Therapy?
We focus on identifying and changing the patterns that lead to disconnection: conflict, distrust, silent anger, and just plain anger. Instead of sticking to surface-level skills, we help couples get to the root dynamics of their relationship. That means honest, sometimes uncomfortable conversations. The goal: break destructive cycles and build real, lasting connection.
Do You Accept Insurance?
We are an out-of-network practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, we're happy to provide a monthly superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Many of our clients receive partial reimbursement, but coverage varies by plan. Dealing with insurance is, unfortunately, your battle to fight. We'll support you with the paperwork, but we stay out of the fray.
How Long Does Therapy Typically Take?
It depends on your goals, your situation, and your willingness to do the work. Some clients experience meaningful shifts quickly; others take a few months (not years). We're focused on lasting change, not endless sessions, and we aim to get there as efficiently as possible.
Do You Offer Online/Telehealth Sessions?
Yes. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients who prefer to meet online or can't easily get to the office. Dr. Gore, however, is too old to enjoy telehealth and still prefers seeing people in person. The rest of our team offers the same high-quality care virtually. Many clients find telehealth especially convenient for ongoing therapy or tight schedules. We'll make it easy, however you prefer to meet.
What Should I Expect in the First Session?
Your first session is about getting oriented. We'll explore what's bringing you in, what you hope to change, and how broader patterns or systems may be playing a role. You'll get a clear sense of our approach, and we'll make sure it feels like the right fit. It's also your chance to ask questions and get comfortable with the process.
Do You Work with Teens and Families?
Absolutely. We have deep experience working with adolescents and families. Our systemic approach looks at the entire family, not just the so-called "problem child." With teens, we understand the unique developmental challenges they face and work closely with both them and their families to create real, lasting change. Families matter, and we treat them as an interlocking system, not just a collection of symptoms and problems.
What Are Your Specialties? What Kind of Therapy Do You Offer?
At The Dr. Gore Group, we work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. Our specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma recovery, addiction, neurodivergence (including ADHD and autism-related concerns), and "failure to launch." We also help clients facing life transitions, emotional burnout, relationship conflict, and complex family dynamics, including intergenerational trauma. Our clinicians draw from systemic therapy, experiential work, and evidence-based practices like CBT, DBT, and IFS. We also offer Brainspotting, parent coaching, and somatic-based approaches. While our styles vary, we share one mission: to help you feel better, function more fully, and build a life that feels whole.
