Our approach to parent coaching therapy

Parent coaching is different from family therapy. The focus here is you, the parent, building the skills and steadiness to run your household the way you actually want to run it. The child often changes as a result, but the direct work is with you.

We work on the real stuff: what to do when a three-year-old melts down in the grocery store, how to hold a boundary with a teenager who's better at arguing than you are, how to stop the cycle where you lose it and then feel guilty and then over-correct.

Our core belief: kids do better when parents are clearly in charge, warmly and firmly. Many families arrive in a configuration where the kids are effectively running things. That changes, usually faster than parents expect.

Common questions about parent coaching therapy

Do our kids need to be in sessions? +
Usually no. Parent coaching is typically just parents. If we need the kids involved for a specific piece, we'll say so and loop them in, but the main work is with you.
We’re co-parenting separately. Can this still work? +
Yes. We can work with co-parents together to get on the same page, or with one parent individually if the other isn't involved. Consistency across households helps but isn't required.
How quickly will we see changes at home? +
Many parents see shifts within a few weeks once they start applying new approaches consistently. Deeper patterns (long-standing power struggles, entrenched sibling conflict) take longer.
